I am Monina Butnande, a proud Filipino Canadian. My journey began in the Philippines, where I was born and raised. In 1988, I embarked on a new chapter by moving to Canada for work. Back in my homeland, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Later, in Edmonton, Alberta, I pursued and successfully completed the Educational Assistant Program, specializing in supporting special needs children, at Grant McEwan University. For over 18 years, I dedicated my time and efforts to the Edmonton Catholic School system, where I served as an Educational Assistant. My focus was on nurturing and aiding special needs children in their early learning journey. Among my many qualities, I am known for my reliability, trustworthiness, and resourcefulness – traits that have defined my approach to   the challenges of the Covid pandemic emerged, I saw an opportunity to make a significant change. I chose to retire from my role in the school system and returned to the Philippines, my cherished hometown. Here, my husband and I are deeply connected to our family's agricultural farm, spending our days tending to gardens and embracing the simplicity of life. This place has become our sanctuary, a true home away from home. With a desire to explore new horizons, I made the decision to enroll in a Graphic Design program. My aspiration is to cultivate skills that will empower me to create a business of my own or to forge a path in the realm of online work. As I eagerly immerse myself in this educational journey, I remain open to the vast array of opportunities that await me upon its completion.​
